Convoy to Koh Samui 13-19 June 2010

Dear MAC trekkers,

This is the much anticipated and long awaited convoy to... KOH SAMUI.

Duration: 13 til 19 June 2010 (7 days) - second week of school mid-term break

Itinerary:

13 June (Sun)
Gather at Sg. Buloh Toll R&R around 12.30midnight. Depart around 1am.
Arrive Bkt Kayu Hitam border around 7am. Enter Hatyai at 8am.
Stay 1 night in Hatyai.

14 June (Mon)
Depart from Hatyai by 7am and arrive at Donsak Pier ferry terminal around 12 noon.
Take ferry to Koh Samui (1.5 hrs ride) & arrive in Koh Samui by 4pm. Check-in Hotel.

15 June (Tue) til 17 June (Thu)
Here are some interesting places for all of you to visit as everyone may have different preferences. It'll be free & easy during our stay in Koh Samui:

18 June (Fri)
Check out hotel by 9am and proceed to Nathon Ferry Pier.
Arrive Donsak around 1pm and head back to Hatyai.
Arrive Hatyai around 5pm and check-in hotel.

19 June (Sat)
Check out hotel by noon and head back to Malaysia.

P.S. Rooms rate might be cheaper when payment have been confirmed & subject to availability.

Other info which may help you to calculate the estimate budget for this trip:

1. KL to Hatyai approx 550km ; Hatyai to Koh Samui approx 450km; add some drive around here & there, you will be travelling approx 2200km to 2500km for this whole trip.

2. Petrol price in Thailand... Gasohol95 approx THB32/liter; V-power approx THB42/liter; therefore, you'll be spending approx THB4000 to THB6000 juz for petrol in Thailand depending on which petrol you use & how heavy footed.

3. Ferry fare = THB250 per car; THB200 per driver; THB140 per adult passenger; THB70 per child (above 130cm); Children below 130cm is free.

4. Current exchange rate is RM1 = THB9.60 or approx THB100 = RM10.40 (best exchange rate is in Mid Valley Lwr Grd Floor or in Hatyai).

5. Not much shopping in Koh Samui coz prices are more expensive than Hatyai. However, you may wanna buy some local souvenirs. Save your shopping for Hatyai.

6. Local food and Western food is abundant but prices are comparable to KL. Restaurants with English menu normally are more expensive.
